Three covers from my genre landscape, “Mac World(October 2020), Mac Format( Janurary 2020), and PC Gamer( October 2026)

Mac World is live and living well, the connotation of the yellow color symbolizes the use of positivity and optimistic vibe within the magazine intended on attracting the readers in buying it. Bold and large masthead written on the top right-hand corner of the magazine dominates 10-15% of the text as established serving its functions as a visual footprint of the publish cation of this magazine. The coverline and puff line highlights the bolded text “Apple Genius” aligning itself with bringing your devices to get fixated in a local Apple shop, a selling tip used to address its workers as content and expertise at the field while selling the magazine.

Mac Format-Visual Imagery lean into hard, clean rich and premium tech asthetics done by framing through quarter-angle shots. Masthead is big and bolded in text like almost all tech magazine labeling it’s brand name. With the color connotations as light blue a representation of being at peace and serenity, providing a chilling vibe rather than Mac World’s color connotation of yellow representing optimistic and exciting vibes. In the imagery section of the magazine several Apple Mac books and keypads are presented in it, and this could possibly showcase the diversity of Apple devices, how each of these devices could refer back to Apple’s coporate mission statement of being innovative as well as what it’s coverline tries to address of processing inspirational ideas for Mac, iPhone and iPad.

PC Gamer-Audience signals on the custom focus of the game Character named “Onimusha” with his hand holding a Japanese knife blade covering majority of the screen, while the masthead sits directly on top of it covering the entirety of the top cover of the magazine. The background color connotation is focused more on realism often used by the color grey black as well as the character outfit as well, this could focus on realism along with a bit of violent inside as the game seems to be a typical 3A action game. The coverline written right below the character’s name of “Onimusha” with the tittle addressing as “Way of the Sword” suggesting that the character is intended as courageous, furious, strong, and a shade of mysteriously inside of him.

In summary, the genre I’m most drawn to would be Mac World, it focuses on less realism but on the connotations of color which is what I like. The frequent use of yellow as the background color symbolizes an optimistic aesthetics vibe but also the simplicity layout unlike of the many other magazines I’ve analyzed within my genre which is fully fitted within my magazine, this one intends to make things widespread while leaving places for the magazine, keen on making it look raw and polished rather than overcomplicated.
